Survey Creatives are not worried about AI taking their jobsSurvey Creatives are not worried about AI taking their jobsMany of us are increasingly aware of our approaching obsolescence. Two-thirds of Americansbelieve that robots will be doing the jobs of humans in 50 years. But creative professionals are more optimistic than fruchtwein Americans about their jobs in this future. In a new Adobereportthat interviewed 75 working creatives in the U.S., U.K., and German, the report found that the majority of artists, designers, motion graphics specialists and illustrators did not feel threatened by robots taking their jobs. Fifty-four percent of respondents said that they were not at all afraid about artificial intelligence threatening their job. Creatives highlighted the possibilities within machine learning more than the concerns. This optimism came from the hope that art was uniquely human.Creativity is a process and a life journey in which technologies like A.I. can enhance human creativ ity, but cannot replace a humans creative spark,Andreas Pfeiffer, president of Pfeiffer Consulting, who conducted the interviews with respondents, said.Robots could free up time for creativity, but could also create new constraintsIn the artists most optimistic view, artificial intelligence will free up time for artists to brainstorm and be creative.Seventy-four percent of respondents said that they spend more than half their time on tedious, uncreative tasks and it is in this area where they binnensee the most potential for machine learning to take over. More than three in four respondents said they would use an AI assistant to help out with image search. But creatives did express concerns about how workflows could change when artificial intelligence enters their industry. Having A.I. could homogenize what gets produced and how it gets done. The threat of AI Being reliant on doing/creating something for its own sake, instead of considering why we are doing it, creative director Joe L ovelock said. When machine learning makes doing art easier to make and release, the definition of what creativity can be will need to expand too. There are already computer-generated Christmas music songs and computer-generated novels. Google Brain researchers have even taught a neural network how to sketch drawings. For some artists, machine learning creates interesting constraints for artists to work against in their work. A group of artists, for example, created portraits that cannot be detected by face detection algorithms. These are examples of the challenges to come with the convenience of automated art. When it becomes harder for the untrained eye to tell the difference between a humans art and machines, artists will need to think up new ways to express their human authenticity.

9 things every type B person wishes you knew
9 things every type B person wishes you knew9 things every type B person wishes you knewNobel Prize winner Edith Wharton once said, There are two ways of spreading light to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. This is an amazingly accurate description of the difference between schrift A and schrift B personalities. Type A personalities are the candles- and theyre usually burning at both ends. Type B personalities, on the other hand, put out every bit as much light they just dont get as much recognition for it.Type Bs dont have all of that sparkle and sizzle that attract everyones attention. Since Type Bs arent as in your face about their contributions, they have a tendency to get mislabeled as lazy or indifferent. That bias goes all the way back to the origin of the Type A/Type B personality paradigm, in the waiting room of a couple of cardiologists. The doctors elendiced that their chairs didnt have wear on the backs as expected it was only visible on the front edge of the s eats and the armrests, which suggested that patients were literally waiting on the edge of their seats, ready to jump up the second their names were called. So, the cardiologists- Doctors Friedman and Rosenman- then wanted to find out if impatient people were more prone to heart disease. They discovered that their hunch was correct, and they labeled these impatient individuals Type A. Type B was simply a label they assigned to anyone who wasnt Type A.Its as if Type Bs lack the distinguishing characteristics that drive them to be successful. Type Bs, however, know that this couldnt be further from the truth. The very traits that people assume are the products of laziness or indifference are distinct personality characteristics that help Type Bs to achieve and prosper.Unlike Type As, Type Bs dont feel like they have to be perfect, which means they are OK with recognizing and admitting their weaknesses. This acknowledgment equips them to shore up those weaknesses. Type Bs are also easi er to get along with, as they tend to be supportive rather than rushing, pushing, and criticizing others.Type Bs dont jump to conclusions. Since theyre not in a constant rush, they take the time to analyze all the facts instead of hurrying their analysis just to reach a decision. Type Bs also wont keep beating a dead horse. Whereas Type As can become obsessed with making their chosen strategy work, Type Bs easily switch gears when it becomes obvious something isnt working. In a nutshell, Type B personalities deserve a lot more leistungspunkt than they get. To fully grasp what it means to be Type B, you need to hear it from the horses mouth. Dont take my word for it- lets binnensee what they have to sayWere not lazy were just laid-backJust because our goals arent pulsating like strobe lights on our foreheads doesnt mean we dont have any. We have goals, and we care about them just as much as you care about yours. But we see achieving those goals as a journey, not a sprint. We may stop and smell the proverbial roses along the way, but we still stay focused on where were going and what we need to do to get there. We have a planJust because were not barreling from step one to step two at breakneck speed doesnt mean we dont have a plan. We do. We just keep it to ourselves and follow it quietly rather than assigning time-keepers and judges to monitor our progredienz and help us stay on track. We careBeing laid-back is not the same as being disengaged or indifferent. The truth is that we care enough to work at the pace were most effective. If we didnt care, wed let you rush us even if that compromised quality. Were contentWe think its great that youre so focused on your goals, but we simply dont think as much about Whats next? because were pretty happy right where we are. In fact, we Type B people report a higher level of satisfaction with our lives, and that lets us enjoy today without worrying so much about what were going to achieve tomorrow. Were healthier than you are Overall, we suffer less stress, which can lead to everything from heart disease and insomnia to relationship problems and substance abuse. Our ability to relax not only paves the way for better decision-making, it also helps us maintain a healthy weight, avoid cancer, and fight off infections. We make great friendsWe see the best in everyone- including you. Since we dont view life as a competition, were the first to cheer you on and to support you along the way. And we cheer and supportyou, not just your achievements. We think that Robert Louis Stevenson knew what he was talking about when he said, Dont judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. We work best when were allowed to color outside of the linesDont give us a paint-by-numbers kit wed much rather have a blank canvas and a shiny new palette of colors. While youre squinting at those small spaces, trying to make sure you stay within the lines, were backing up all the way across the room so we can see the big picture. We like group projectsWe know you dont like group projects, and we know why there are always a few group members who dont feel that every second has to be accounted for or who dont share your sense of urgency to do everything NOW We focus on the process as well as the outcome. Were happy to share the successes, the failures, and the credit, and we enjoy the give-and-take and collaboration that are part of working with a group, even if it slows things down a bit.We admire and respect you- but we wouldnt trade placesWere awed by your drive and by your breathtaking pace. We recognize the rewards that come your way, and were impressed. But were wise enough to know that were not wired that way. Wed be miserable, and so would everyone around us. So, were content to hang out in the slow lane and see you at the finish line. Well be the ones who are smiling calmly, rather than gasping for breath.Bringing It All TogetherWe really dont mind ceding the limelight to Type A perso nalities just dont count us out. We have a lot to offer, and we want to contribute. We want to succeed at a high level. However, wed rather enjoy the game and leave the scorekeeping to somebody else. After all, it doesnt matter until the game is over. What other characteristics set Type B people apart? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.
